Wacah Chan Description
This piece was inspired by the ancient Mayan world tree, called the Wacah Chan. This tree connects all realms of Maya existence North, South, East and West. The Maya associated its roots with the underworld, its left branches with rainy winters, its right branches with dry summers, and its highest branches with heaven. They always used the ceiba (silk cotton) tree and the color green to represent this sacred plant. The top of this deck is a graphic representation the Wacah Chan tree; the bottom has abstract winding roots that plunge into the underworld.
